Following the announcement on Thursday that Brady and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes would grace the cover of "Madden NFL 22" together, Edelman paid tribute to the seven-time Super Bowl champ by reminding him of his heritage.
"You've progressed a lot from 'QB No. Edelman tweeted "12 @TomBrady" alongside a screenshot from an older Madden game that did not contain Brady's name or picture.
The 199th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, Brady took the reins of quarterback in New England from Drew Bledsoe in the 2001 season where he took home his first Super Bowl as a Patriot. Brady went on to win six championships with Bill Belichick during his 20-season time in New England.
In March 2020 however, Brady has signed a contract for two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 43-year-old quarterback took home his seventh Super Bowl title in February when he defeated Mahomes 25 as well as the Chiefs.
