The same concept applies to the platelegs. However, the only difference is that Dragon platelegs tend to be more affordable. What is repair cost (convenience of repair is not a problem since there are NPCs that repair in Lumbridge, Khazard, Burthorpe and the Void Knight Outpost as well as you can also repair them in your own home)?
It's about 90,000 per 15 hours. This is less if you're doing it at home, and you actually have a medium-smithing level (50 for instance, will make it cost ~70k). Let's make it a round number and call it 100k the same way we're rounding the cost of Torag's 300k, not 340k. 1290 = 86*15. This is how many hours you'll need to be fighting with these (not simply wearing it) before spending more on it than you would for a dragon's plate body.
In comparison, 200 hours would be a long time for getting a skill up to 99. It gets worse in combat. This isn't just a matter of wearing it. The numbers don't decline slowly. They are good and then the stats stop when it goes from 25% to the 0% mark. It is difficult to understand why one should pay more for an inferior piece of armour based on the requirement to shell out tiny amounts of cash each day for 15 hours of combat. The reason why dragon plates are pricey has nothing to be related to their value: it's simply because they're hard to come by.
If not, I'll be buying a Bgs, then an d claw with any excess cash... After that remainder of the cash is put towards leveling mages, pray, summ, or herby. Ndy: Got 90 Str today..
