When you take all of the above into consideration, I don't see how anyone could argue that 138 calculations for combat do a better job of what it is supposed to do than 200 calculations particularly considering the current EOC system.
A Possible Saving Grace. At the end of this editorial, it is important to note something important. If the 138 calculation is successful, Jagex will create another poll, giving players the option to change the calculation to 138. This could help prevent the previously mentioned issue. However, the system would need to be completely changed. Hitpoints will have very limited effect on calculation. Attack and strength will need to be increased to Ranged or Magic.
Can this vote to alter the system of combat succeed in solving the issue? We're not sure, but we are sceptical. As we've said previously the influence of nostalgia plays a significant role in people's decisions. They would like the old method to be used again, and not a totally new one. Even if we voted to alter the rules, we won't be as in control of the changes or lack of. This removes some power from the players. That isn't something that I mind. It is what brought us here.
