But Blue River still has senior center Ally Madden, one of the best inside players in the region Sharpshooting junior Maci Chamberlin and plenty of depth around them to make an appearance in another event.
While four consecutive titles in the sectional championship could set the school's record in the process, this year's Vikings still have many steps to take towards being a definitive postseason rival.
"I don't know since we're still in the process of growing. I'm hoping that we will become an organization that is capable of accomplishing that. I don't believe that we're at that point yet," Bales said of the possibility of winning the sectional championship.
"We've been learning how to defend better ... try not to commit the mistakes that aren't forced. We've got some retraining to do.
