Try going to www.ipinfo.org and enter in the ip address you want to check.
It will tell you the state (PING or UNKNOWN). If it is State=UNKNOWN, just assume the host is online. You can always use the ping command line utility, also from ipinfo.org. 66cf4387b8 jarflor
