There is yet another tarnished within the Lands Between who walked the road of Elden Lord but was swayed by love or greed and consumed by an eternal flame.
Elden Ring Runes doesn't have a shortage of DLC-worthy stories to grow upon, but there's one particular arc that fans might like to see fleshed out by Shadow from the Erdtree. FromSoftware has shared hardly any about the DLC, save for any gorgeous artwork, that has unsurprisingly launched fans into the exciting mini-game of attempting to determine what Elden Ring's Lands Between will unleash next. Among the many unique characters and surrounding events, the DLC could explore, a particular character sticks out.
Players might recognize Vyke in the cover from the game, as he's the armor-clad man kneeling on the sword. His appearance around the cover may appear innocent enough, though Souls games possess a habit of utilizing a boss or player-substitute within their key art. As it turns out, Roundtable Knight Vyke would be tarnished who had nearly claimed the throne before straying from his path. Players will find Roundtable Knight Vyke within the Contender's Evergaol around the Mountaintops from the Giants, an aptly named prison for that rogue knight. However, players who have been invaded through the scorched facade of Vyke in the Church of Inhibition received a glimpse of the very thing that led him astray. The hints lie in Vyke's flame-imbued war spear and tattered armor.
Vyke Was Seduced By The Frenzied Flame
Vyke, similar to the player, adopts the aim of becoming Elden Lord. In his pursuit of the throne, he was able to get towards the entrance from the Erdtree before heading underneath the capital. Players who managed to get as far as Vyke would know the roots should be burned away to be able to enter the tree, there are two methods to achieve this. The first technique is that from the maiden's own destiny. By sacrificing their body as kindling, the roots are going to be cleared for that tarnished knight to accomplish their quest. However, if the tarnished decide to forfeit themselves for reasons unknown, they might embrace the Frenzied Flame. Players who adhere to the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending are greeted with a brief post-credit scene by which their own maiden, Melina, vows to hunt and kill them.
The Vyke players meet in the cleverly titled Church of Inhibition and are dressed up in burned armor, marked by three large fingerprints. His breastplate and helmet are dented and warped, as though he was grasped with a large molten hand. It's clear that Vyke, whether or not to spare his maiden or prove himself capable, embraced the Frenzied Flame and be a carrier of chaos. This concept of player-substitute turned villain might sound especially familiar to players of Dark Souls 3. The final boss, Soul of Cinder, was an amalgamation of who linked the flame prior to the player's arrival—including the protagonist and final boss of Dark Souls. Additionally, Dark Souls 3's two DLC introduce an NPC named Gael who gained power by consuming pygmy souls before consuming the Dark Soul from the Furtive Pygmy itself, granting him unimaginable power in return for his humanity.
There continues to be a lot of mystery surrounding Vyke; his relationship using the ancient dragon Lansseax, the main reason he finds the Frenzied Flame rather than letting his maiden sacrifice herself, and how he knew from the three fingers' location. Following the Dark Souls trilogy's affinity for rekindling flames, Elden Ring could see players opposing the uncontrollable spread of eternal flame. Perhaps Vyke and also the Frenzied Flame assists with a similar purpose because of the Soul of Cinder or Gael. There are plenty of fun things Shadow from the Erdtree can perform with Elden Ring.
Dark Souls 3 put a pleasant bow around the trilogy by bringing closure towards the Dark Soul and pitting the ball playing against a facsimile from the previous lords or cursed undead who bound their twisted souls in linking the flame. Given its already massive scale, it's possible the DLC could summarize cheap elden ring runes.
Elden Ring can be obtained now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
