Just by hearing the name, many people don't know what Browline Glasses are. Browline glasses have been around since the 1940s, but the ones made by Ray-Ban are called Clubmasters. The glasses were first introduced in 1947 by the eyewear company Shuron Ltd. It was invented by Vice President Jack Rohrbach. As time went on, this style of glasses became more and more popular. By the 1960s, the brown wireframe was initially changed to black, as well as any color you wanted.
These glasses finally reached their peak in the 1960s. Celebrities such as Colonel Sanders and Vince Lombardi and political figures such as Lyndon B. Johnson and Malcolm X were known for wearing them. As the glasses became more in demand over time, Shuron began changing the shape of the frames and modifying them over time.
Throughout the 1970s and 1990s, demand for Shuron glasses had peaks and troughs. After Ray-Ban introduced Clubmaster, they began to face competition and have been beaten by Ray-Ban ever since.
Now, in our common era, Browline sunglasses are starting to make a comeback. New styles are coming in and sunglasses are back. They have been worn by celebrities as diverse as Katy Perry and Joseph Gordon-Levit.
