Solomon's General Store is RS gold an implementation of a premium shop where customers can purchase overrides that are cosmetic in exchange for a premium money. In addition to cosmetics, customers can also purchase premium pets, and convenience items such as extra bank space, auras that provide in-game advantages. RuneCoins are sold in fixed quantities. These amounts that were fixed tend to differ from the cost of the items they are used to buy, leaving consumers with remaining currency. This effectively increases unless the customer is prepared to purchase RuneCoins and buy more premium items, the cost of the premium thing that is purchased beyond the price that is advertised. These can be purchased by completing offers such as polls and purchasing outside services and goods.
Beyond the reach of the subscription, Runescape also provides a premium subscription. These tiers provide combinations of cosmetics, loot boxes, subscription period server access advantages, and discounts on other monetization strategies. Bonds operate as an item that allow players to transact in-game currency in exchange for a token that could be redeemed for subscription time, premium money, lootboxes, and battlepass progression. These are purchasable for real world money and, they do little to effectively combat trading while frequently cited otherwise. By providing an way to cheaters to buy subscription time, which reduces chargebacks, the intended benefit is to decrease financial fraud.

Battlepasses are a system based monetization strategy that offer challenges for customers to complete in exchange for cosmetics or benefits that are in-game. Yak Track provides a free track and also a premium (paid) monitor which includes significantly more than the free track. Progress may be jumped by tier beats trapping the two different ways.
Not one of these monetization strategies have been discontinued in favor of monetization strategies that were different and are now still in place in RuneScape today. I compiled this record because I think it is important for consumers to understand each of the methods by which RuneScape is being monetized. The duel stadium, while probably not the first intention, is a kind of gambling provided by RuneScape. I have left this off the primary list because I'm not certain that it's an effort at a monetization strategy, but because of OSRS Money real world exchange and legitimized purchase of in-game money through an official source, a debate could definitely be created that Jagex gains in some way off of in-game gambling.
