The second Public Test Realm (PTR) for Diablo IV is just around the corner, offering you the chance to preview and test the upcoming changes and features for Season 5. The PTR will be available from June 25 to July 2 for players with a PC Battle.net account.
Why the PTR Matters
The PTR is your opportunity to experience and provide feedback on new updates before Season 5 officially launches. Your input helps us refine balance changes, fix bugs, and enhance the overall experience. We appreciate your participation as it allows us to test new systems and features effectively.
What’s New in Season 5
Season 5 introduces an intense new storyline where enemies fall, alliances shift, and unlikely allies emerge from the shadows. During the PTR, you’ll explore a new Questline that continues after the Main Questline’s events. This Questline will be available on both Seasonal and Eternal Realms and will remain in the Eternal Realm after Season 5 ends.
Getting Started with the New Questline
- Location: Hawezar, World Tier III
- Objective: Investigate a disturbance among the cityfolk.
- Unlocks: Completing this Questline grants access to the Infernal Hordes, a new gameplay feature in Season 5. Note that this Quest needs to be completed only once per account.
Infernal Hordes: A New Challenge
Helltides were just the beginning. Prepare to confront endless waves of Hell’s minions in the Realm of Hatred. The Infernal Hordes grow more formidable with each passing day.
How to Engage with Infernal Hordes:
1. Enter the Realm of Hatred:
- Use an Infernal Compass to access this realm.
- Obtain Hell Compasses by defeating Endgame Bosses, completing Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whispers.
- Receive a Hell Compass upon completing the latest Eternal quest.
2. Infernal Hordes Gameplay:
- Participate in time-limited waves, each lasting 90 seconds.
- Collect Burning Aether during each wave to use at the end of a successful run.
- At the end of the wave, defeat any remaining enemies and choose from three Infernal Offers to influence the next wave.
- Successfully complete all waves in your Tier to advance to the Well of Hatred and face the Fell Council. After defeating the Fell Council, spend your Burning Aether on Spoils of Hell.
3. Infernal Offers:
- Choose from three Boons & Banes that affect your run. Examples include increased elite damage or more Burning Aether rewards.
- Infernal Offers stack and can be active simultaneously, allowing you to adjust the difficulty for greater rewards.
4. Burning Aether:
- Earn Burning Aether by slaying Aether Fiends, Aether Lords, or destroying Soulspires and Aetheric Masses.
- Burning Aether is earned whether you play solo or in a group, and you decide how to spend it at the end of your run.
- Use Burning Aether to unlock Spoils of Hell after a successful run.
Spoils of Hell:
- Spoils of Equipment
- Spoils of Materials
- Spoils of Gold
- Spoils of Greater Equipment (guarantees an item with a Greater Affix)
Treasure Goblin Enhancements:
- Improved loot quality: Treasure Goblins now drop 1-3 Legendary Items and 2-6 Rare Items. The number of Rare Items decreases as Legendary Drops increase, and vice versa.
- New drops include 1-2 Elixirs, Common Ore, Herbs, Leather, and Gem Fragments.
- Increased Gold drops:
- Level 1 in World Tier I: 40k Gold
- Level 100 in World Tier IV: 150k Gold
- In World Tiers III and IV, Treasure Goblins also drop Forgotten Souls.
- Added chance for Treasure Goblins to drop 1-2 Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4 gold for sale World Tiers I/II, III, and IV respectively.
