Google has announced that they are replacing the old keyword tool with a new google adwords keyword tool. In this article I am going to discuss the new keyword planner tool and how it is different from the old keyword tool.
Sometime soon Google is replacing their old keyword tool with the new planner so we will all need to understand how to use it - whether we like it or not!
It is certainly different from the old keyword tool in terms of the interface but when you start playing around with it I think you will agree that it is far easier to use.
Here are a few of the differences of the new Google Adword Keyword Planner.
3 Ways To Plan A Campaign
There are 3 ways that you can use the keyword planner:
Search for a keyword or ad group. You can combine a search using a keyword, website URL and category to really filter your results.
Uploading keyword lists. If you have a CSV file then you can upload a keyword list. You can even upload a zip file.
Combining multiple keyword lists (more on that later)
New Search Volume Results
One of the main differences is that the broad match search results will now give a higher search volume than before because previously Google had only used results from desktop computers and laptops in their results.
Now the results will include mobile phones and tablets so it should be a more accurate value. This is interesting because it potentially means that there will be new keyword phrases or long tail keywords that previously had low search results and considered not worth bothering with but could now prove more worthy of use.
Combing Multiple Keyword Lists
As mentioned above, a new feature that the Google Adword Keyword Planner has is that you will now be able to combine keyword lists much more easily and quicker. Previously this had to be done manually but now you can choose the multiple keyword option and combine your lists quickly.
You Need An AdWords Account
Previously anyone was able to use the google adwords keyword tool by entering a captcha but now the Google Adword Keyword Planner is only available if you have an AdWords account. Since it is free to open an account I don't think this will be a problem for anyone (provided it stays free).
This is probably a good idea as the results you obtained with the previous tool were far superior if logged into your account.
Getting The Online Results You Deserve
If you're not seeing the results you want with your online efforts then it might be down to what you're actually selling. I have discovered that when you create your own information products you are far more successful but you need to keep the momentum going and get products out quickly.
