When I first started my business, I didn't realize how much of an impact a professional email address would have on my brand. It's easy to choose something simple like a Gmail or Yahoo address, but by having an email address tied to my domain, such as “name@mybusiness.com”, I immediately looked more legitimate. It increased the credibility of my communications and clients began to take me much more seriously.
If you're building your business or even updating your brand, don't underestimate the impact of your email address. If you're a lone consultant, something like “hello@” or just your name is great. For larger teams, “support@” or “info@” can be helpful, but won't overwhelm those who contact you. Using a business domain makes it less likely that your emails will end up in spam folders, as many filters weed out generic emails faster.
