Blizzard Will Get World of Warcraft Legacy Servers It says Nostalrius Manager In WOW WOTLK Classic Gold April, Blizzard removed one pirate World of Warcraft server that showcased the MMO's early days prior to any expansions. Blizzard visited with the Nostalrius team behind Nostalrius in the past, and we know what they discussed about and where Blizzard takes a stand on the topic of old servers.
"After this meeting, we are able to say that these guys WANT to get legacy WoW servers, that is absolutely true," said project manager Viper on the Nostalrius forums. "We made every effort to make this presentation discussion as professional as was possible This clearly was a pleasant unexpected delight for the entire Blizzard team, [CEO] Mike Morhaime in particular."
The session was planned to last less than two hours, however, it ended up lasting longer than five hours. Viper reports that Blizzard was "very fascinated, curious, and attentive." Participants included Morhaime as well as the executive producer J. Allen Brack, and game director Tom Chilton. Viper mentions that the Nostalrius team was "very impressed by the immense admiration and respect they all felt for" the legacy server work they'd accomplished.
The conversations that took place included the history of the pirate server as well as the process of making it, and other technical details like the anti-cheat system the team devised for Nostalrius. But, nothing related to bringing official legacy servers to life was ever confirmed.
"First first, don't forget that, in a big company the decision-making process is not made during a single meeting. They are entitled to announce any decision that is official by themselves," Viper wrote. Viper added that Blizzard does have the source code for "Vanilla WoW," and it will require "tremendous efforts" to get up and running.
"In in addition to technical requirements of releasing an old server Blizzard is also required to create a very polished game that will be accessible to its millions of players. Viper finished his post positively and buy WOTLK Gold said it was because Blizzard is "now thoroughly aware" of the players who wish to join World of Warcraft on legacy servers, due in large part to a petition that has over 250.000 signatures. Viper also said that Brack wants to keep in touch to the Nostalrius team.
