If you can access one of your trusted devices such as an iPhone or iPad, this is often the fastest and simplest way to reset your Apple ID password. The process should also take only minutes depending on which device is being used for resets.

Start by visiting Apple Support website from any trusted device and scrolling down to Support Tools > Reset Password. When directed, a different page will open where you can enter your Apple ID and follow onscreen instructions to change it, with an option to sign back into your account using your new password if someone may have gained unauthorised access to it.

As part of the setup process for most Apple products, you will be required to sign into your Apple ID and provide its password for unlocking. If you can’t remember either option, select Forgot Apple ID or Password? and follow its onscreen instructions; this option is available both on iPhones/iPads as well as Mac computers.

Resetting your Apple ID password on borrowed devices such as those belonging to friends or Apple Stores is also possible, provided they run iOS 8 or later and contain an up-to-date software release. Once done, open up the Apple Support app from either iTunes or the App Store as necessary and follow these steps:

Select your name from the list, and follow the onscreen instructions to change your Apple ID password. When complete, you can begin using your new device with its apps and services as soon as you’ve logged back in with its new password. Remember to write down and store away your recovery key safely so you can log back into other devices using it once done!

In cases where you cannot sign in to your Apple ID or access a trusted device, use Account Recovery instead. It’s an automated process designed to help regain access while restricting anyone who might try impersonating you from accessing it again. Please be aware that this method could take several days and require additional information such as answering security questions or verifying codes sent directly to trusted phone numbers and emails addresses.
